12 clock towers to get a makeover in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will renovate and restore all the 12 clock towers which are in the city. Out of which nine are in Hyderabad and the rest three in Secunderabad. The GHMC has initiated restoration works on three of them that is Moazzam Jahi Market, Secunderabad Clock Tower and Mahabub Chowk.

Aravind Kumar, the Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration visited Sultan Bazar, Shalibanda and Monda Market to check whether the clock were functional or dilapidated and he instructed the civic body to take necessary steps to restore and bring into use the rest of the clocks in the city.  

Kumar also told the officials to look after the repair works of the old assembly hall near the Sultan Bazaar Government High School. He noticed that the structure was dilapidated and the clock on both sides was not working. He told GHMC officials to take up repairs of the clock and ensure its periodical maintenance. 

Aravind Kumar visited Sultan Bazar clock tower which was in a bad condition due to lack of maintenance for the past several years and noticed that some portion of land in front of the main road was intruded. The officials were told to construct a compound wall around the clock beside repair works to the clock. He directed the officials to remove tree branches and make the clock tower visible.
