15 commandos and driver killed in Maoist attack in Maharashtra

Around 15C-60 Commandos, including a women and the driver were killed in a blast on two security vehicles trigged by the Maoist in Kurkheda tehsil of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.

The C-60 Force that comprises locals and police personnels, it is formed to tackle the Naxal menace. Other troopers were injured and other two vehicles were blown to pieces in the attack. Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said, “this is a tragedy coming on a day when the entire state is celebrating Maharashtra Day.”

The apprehensions could increase, Mungantiwar said that he has spoken with the concerned district and security agencies and will soon speak with the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to the sources the incident occurred hours after the suspected Maoists torched at least 36 heavy vehicles and the two sites offices of a road building contractor near Dadapur Village in Kurkheda Sub-division.
