A 26 year old priest from Bowenpally has been convicted for sexually abusing an 11 year old girl in 2014. The judge has sentenced the priest to undergo 10 year rigorous imprisonment.
Public Prosecutor K Pratap Reddy said the girl’s statement along with the medical report helped in proving the priest guilty. The priest came to the girl’s house to perform a pooja in August 2014. The priest again came to the house and performed ‘homam’. After the ritual, he gave ‘prasadam’ to the girl’s parents and asked them to feed it to a cow.
By the time the girl’s parents returned home, the priest was seen leaving in a hurry saying that he had to attend an urgent call, the parents noticed the girl crying at the same time. When they asked her, she narrated the incident.
The priest had threatened the girl not to reveal the matter to her parents if she did; something bad would happen to her parents. Based on a complaint, the police booked a case against the priest and arrested him.

for trial of cases under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). Nampally, Kunchala Suneetha said the accused was convicted for the
offence and directed to undergo 10-years of rigorous imprisonment. He was
also asked to pay a fine of Rs 3,000.
