Procession of Shobha Yatra ends peacefully in city

A massive procession of Shobha Yatra, on the occasion of Rama Navmi attracted thousands of people from around the city on Sunday. The procession of Sri Ram Navmi started from Sri Ram temple in Seetharambagh and travelled through Mangalhat, Dhoolpet, Begum Bazar, Siddiamber Bazaar and Koti before it winded up at Hanuman Vyayamshala grounds.

The procession was led by Dr Bhagwanth Rao and another procession was taken out taken out in the same route by BJP legislator T Raja Singh. The route was decorated with saffron flags and banners. The procession had young boys and girls dressed up as religious figures. Several organisations had put up stages to welcome the procession and also to setup camps to distribute water, food and other cool drinks to the people who participated in the event.

Around 5,000 policemen were deployed for the peaceful conduct; senior police officers monitored the procession from the key places on the route while Hyderabad Commissioner Anjani Kumar camped near Siddiamber Bazar mosque. Several other police officials monitored the procession from the command and control centre at the CP office building. Apart from this procession, Sri Rama Kalyanam Programmes were organised in temples where the celestial wedding of Lord Rama drew devotees in large numbers.
