The Telangana Health Department has logged that the state’s health budget proposal by Rs 3,000 crore higher than the previous year.
The total amount proposed is Rs 10,000 crore of this year, the additional amount is meant for maternal and Child welfare activities. The state government may allocate more funds to the health sector in 2019-2020 budgets.
The state government has planned to increase funds for KCR kits programmes to improve the institutional deliveries in the state. It is estimated that 6.28 lakh – 6.4 lakh institutional deliveries happen in the state every year. Only 40 % of the deliveries are recorded at the state run facilities.
In private hospitals deliveries are mostly done in C section, forming a chunk of deliveries. The state government wants to change the trend of C section deliveries to normal deliveries after drawing cutting over the issue. A senior official of the health department said, “We want to increase the allocations of diagnostic services and purchase machinery.”
