Women party to contest from 9 seats in Telangana

The decision to fight from 50 per cent of the seats in ensuring Lok Sabha elections, India’s first all women political outfit, the National Women’s Part (NWP) will contest from nine of the 17 seats in Telangana.

The Constituencies will have NWP candidates in the state are from Bhongir, Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Khammam, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Malkajgiri, KArimnagar and Adilabad. The party was officially launched in December last year and it has been allotted gas stove as its party symbol. We are deciding our candidates; the names will be announced in the next few days.

The Hyderabad based medico practised as a general physician before taking a plunge in politics is hopeful by 2023 she will be more difficult team in a place. At present the parliament has only 11 per cent of women representations while the average in te state assembly is an abysmal 7 to 8 per cent, said Dr Shetty.
